There are three different methods of recontouring the buttock: liposuction, buttock implants and fat transfer.

Liposuction can recontour the buttocks and, when properly perfomed, even cause the buttocks to rotate upward slightly.  For a more prominent buttock, an implant or fat transfer is required.

Due to the high rate of potential complications associated with buttock implants, Dr. Summers recommends fat transfers instead.  Fat transfers involve the removal of fat from other areas (e.g. abdomen, thighs, hips), purification of the fat, and reinjection of the fat into the buttock region. This technique has become known as the “Brazilian Butt Lift”.

After the Brazilian Butt Lift, patients enjoy youthful, prominent, perky buttocks and a more sensual body profile. The procedure is designed to fill the upper quadrant of your buttocks so that the butt appears lifted and perky. The resulting effect is that the woman appears more attractive and sensuous.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Are there different ways to augment or enlarge my butt?

There are two ways to enlarge the buttocks: buttock implants or the Brazilian Butt Lift with fat injections.

2. Does Dr. Summers prefer one method of butt augmentation over the other?

Dr. Summers prefers to augment the butt using fat injections. This method results in the most natural and sensual look for the buttock area. Additionally, the fat transfer method avoids the higher risk of infection associated with buttock implants.

3. How does Dr. Summers perform fat injections to the buttocks?

The buttocks are first contoured by performing liposuction in the areas around the buttocks to make them stand out more. Common areas liposuctioned include the back- directly above the butt, the stomach, and the thighs.

The fat suctioned from these areas is carefully processed and purified. Only a fraction of the removed fat will qualify for re-injection to the buttocks. In order to get enough qualified fat, Dr. Summers must liposuction at least 2 areas of your body. After liposuction, Dr. Summers carefully purifes the fat so that only the best donor fat cells are reinjected back into your buttocks for augmentation. The fat is placed or transferred to the buttocks with special cannulas.

Dr. Summers injects small amounts of purified fat into different areas of the buttocks and at various depths. Correct injection methods are essential to achieve a uniform, smooth, natural appearance to the buttocks.

An additional benefit of this fat injection method is that you not only get a more shapely buttock, but the area liposuctioned is now much leaner, giving your profile a more sensuous look. Dr. Summers prefers to perform this method of butt augmentation, as the combination of liposuction and fat injections produces the most attractive and natural profile.

4. When can I go back to work after the butt augmentation procedure?

Following the butt augmentation procedure, you must not sit directly on your buttocks for two weeks. Most people can return to work in 2 weeks, provided you do only a minimum amount of sitting. You must wear a special garment (to control swelling) for two weeks. You should be able to resume all normal activities 4 weeks after surgery.  However, there may be residual swelling up to 8 weeks after the procedure.

5. What is the cost of the Brazilian Butt Lift?

The average TOTAL cost of the Brazilian Butt Lift (lower body liposuction and butt augmentation using fat injections) is $8,000-$14,000.  This fee includes the surgeon’s fee, anesthesia, surgery center costs, and all post-operative office visits. The fee varies depending on the amount of fat which needs to be extracted in order to achieve the desired result. Dr. Summers will determine the number of areas which need to be liposuctioned in order to achieve your goal. This is discussed at length in your consultation.
