How can an eyelid surgery change your appearance?

Are you currently unhappy with the appearance of your face? Facial plastic surgery such as a facelift, brow lift or cheek enhancement can alter the way you look in a natural, controlled manner.

An eyelid surgery, known as a blepharoplasty can also dramatically change your face. It can be performed on the lower and upper eyelid. The procedure can treat a range of facial changes caused by aging. These aging effects include:

  • Bags underneath the eyes
  • Drooping lower lids
  • Excess fatty deposits that appear as puffiness
  • Excess skin and fine wrinkles of lower lid
  • Loose or sagging skin that creates folds or disturbs natural contour.

An upper eyelid surgery is usually done to correct droopiness that can cover the eye. Incisions are made within the eye crease and natural contours to minimize visible scarring. As the excess skin and fat are removed, the skin will be tightened and a new shape will be made.

A lower eyelid surgery is done to eliminate puffiness and reduce dark under-eye circles. Incisions can often be made inside the lower eyelid, hiding any scarring or lines from the view of others.

Eyelid surgery can take anywhere between one and three hours depending on the patient, other surgeries performed simultaneously and what the surgery’s main goals are.

Eyelid surgeries are often combined with other procedures such as a face lift or cheek enhancement.
