Does my procedure require general anesthesia?

With advancements in surgical techniques, many cases that previously required a general anesthetic can now be performed under local anesthesia with mild sedation. This is preferred as it eliminates the risks and costs otherwise associated with a general anesthesia.

Some procedures, especially those that involve the muscles (eg. breast augmentation and full abdominoplasty) will typically be performed under general anesthesia. However, some breast lift and mini-abdominoplasty procedures are frequently performed without general anesthesia.

Because each patient’s needs, anatomy, and preferences are individualized, a final determination on the type of anesthesia will be made during your consultation.
