How long is the recovery or downtime after procedures?

Most MedSpa procedures do not have any recovery time. For example, with most injectables, patients can return to work or go to a lunch/dinner event immediately afterwards. Laser hair removal and many IPL treatments have no downtime. Even fractional resurfacing, fat melting, muscle toning, cellulite reduction, and skin tightening procedures typically have no downtime. However, there are exceptions. For example, with some chemical peel treatments, the skin may peel over the course of 2-3 days (on average). And, with more aggressive laser resurfacing treatments, some patients have a recovery period of up to 5-6 days before they feel comfortable in social settings.

Most of the surgical procedures have some downtime associated with them — typically patients are asked to limit their activities during the first week following their procedure. By the end of the third week, the majority of patients are able to resume their normal activities without limitation, including exercise. In some cases, with minimally invasive treatments, patients will look immediately following their procedure. We still ask that patients abstain from strenuous activities for a few weeks as those activities can precipitate swelling (and potentially affect the cosmetic outcome) which could otherwise have been avoided.
